VCM Daily Trading Lessons

Are You Really Committed?

Today's Quote: “The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like a ham-and-eggs breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'." Anon.

Imagine a new student of the markets. They have accumulated enough money that they want to learn to manage it for themselves, or trade part or full time. They recognize the need for an education, so they begin to research how to get educated. Perhaps they even come across the VCM website and sign up for a free trial, or maybe even end up in the VCM Proprietary Online Trading Room

After a couple weeks they are impressed again, but realize that there is much more to learn than they had contemplated. So they sign up and take one of our VCM Trade for Life™ seminars. They return Monday morning with all the confidence that the seminar inspires.

Here is where people go different directions. Some understand this is the beginning of a process. A good part of necessary information has been learned, and the mind must now learn to take the market action, correlate it to what was taught, synthesize the information, and understand that they will very likely misapply many concepts. They thirst to find out why good plays went well, why bad ones did not, and what they can do to learn and improve. They develop plans based on this information, and follow up on results. We could continue on for hours on what to do here, but that is another lecture.

Some look at this moment as the end of their education, and time to start ‘raking’ in the money. They sit down at the desk, and assume that the information learned, is now going to transform it self into money. They do not properly apply what they learn. Worse yet, they do not know that they are not applying it properly. There is no ‘follow up’. There is no tracking, no improvement. No basis to improve even. Just random trades, hoping something will work.

Few do well without a formal education. Of those that receive a formal education, it takes a strong commitment to put it to use properly. So now the question comes, how committed are you.
